I have a Dream... for my Craft Room

It seems to be I have taken on a new project, that will take longer than expected (SURPRISE!) . Since I have started blogging and editing pictures I have been spending more and more time at my laptop, on my couch - bad for my back. My only desk is very small and being used to hold my sewing machine. I dream of having a desk to sit at and a larger monitor - and maybe even room for my serger and sewing machine to sit at the same time.....  (a girl can dream right?)

To be able to do that to my craft room I needed to make my closet storage work for me and store more, and I need to figure out the best way to fit a  corner desk into a small room....

So here is the before of the closet and the craft/guest room (after everything in the closet was dumped over the room) - don't judge me. ;-)

First step - organizing closet. Over the weekend we built cheap plywood shelves (since we rent, we didn't want any more holes in the wall than there already were).  Each shelf was a sheet of plywood - about $15 each.

I also took two suitcases full of stuff to the local thrift store. It feels good to get rid of stuff! So here is the update from today.

Keeping things real with this picture. And yes those are three male beta fish in three vases, sitting in front of a space heater to keep warm.

Still messy, but at least now there it isn't a 20 minute ordeal to get anything out of the closet.  There are still a lot of things to find places for and stuff to get rid of.

Here is the list of things to do:

• Take off Closet Doors
• Hang curtains on Closer & Craft Table 
• Organize Fabric 
• Build Corner Desk (No Big Deal)
• Hang Shelves 
• Replace Art Work 
• Hang Diploma ( and other pictures)
• Build Shelves for  Closet

I am sure that as time goes on, thing will be added to the list. But with a new monitor and serger on the wish list.... I need some place to put them both! 

Here are the ideas for the desk so far. Which one do you like?

1. Ana White's Eco Modular Office Desktop

I would have to edit these plans for a corner and slightly smaller, I think about about 7 feet total  of space to work with.  But I could make them myself, which would be awesome!

2.  A Curved Desk

This one would require some thinking and not as much storage. But it would give be the desk space that I need. (And I would have to find a way to do it with legs - since I can't just put my desk right on the wall!)

3. Parson Desk (also from Ana White)

 Another DIY Project. Simple. And could have the extra space that I am looking for! 

4. Buy Ikea GALANT Desk 

This isn't a DIY, but it costs just as much. Maybe this would be a better option.

There are so many other options, thanks to Pinterest. Now I just need to pick one and run with it!
